We offer small hands-on workshops in metalwork and design, where sparks fly, ideas take form, and every strike of the hammer carries your unique story. With two experienced tutors guiding each session, and never more than 5 participants per workshop, you’ll get the focus, freedom and support to realise your creative vision. Whether you’re a curious beginner or a seasoned maker, this is a space to explore, experiment, and forge something meaningful - with your hands and your heart.
About Our Tutors
Maria Laidlaw
Maria’s creative practice is deeply rooted in curiosity, a mindful approach to making, and a longstanding love for materials with history. Working primarily with metal and mixed media, she designs and crafts bespoke jewellery and objects that often blur the boundaries between disciplines, embracing experimentation and unexpected outcomes. Inspired by traditional techniques, vintage materials, and timeless aesthetics, her work carries a sense of nostalgia and romanticism. She is passionate about collaboration, and the sharing of knowledge—values that are central to her studio practice and role as a tutor.
Pauline Paxton
Pauline is a jewellery designer and maker who focusses on craftsmanship and making. She works with gold, silver, and a range of precious and semi-precious stones to create pieces that are bold, vibrant, delicate, or understated. Lately, she has been exploring anodised aluminium, a medium rich in pattern, colour, and texture.
Inspired by Scotland’s dramatic coastlines and the colourful landscapes of her African roots, Pauline’s love for jewellery making extends beyond her own practice. She loves to share her skills through creative workshops, encouraging others to explore, play, and craft their own unique pieces.
Our aim is to build meaningful connections and nurture an environment where ideas can flourish.
Whether you’re a beginner or a seasoned maker, our workshops offer a creative space where stories, skills, and friendships grow.
